Goodell voted Reformer Athlete of the Week

BRATTLEBORO — Bellows Falls varsity girls basketball player Taylor Goodell received 159 votes to earn Brattleboro Reformer Athlete of the Week honors for Jan. 28 to Feb. 3.

She was nominated after recording her third double-double of the season, with 22 points and 11 rebounds, when the Terriers topped rival Springfield 60-51 to claim the Liquid Gold Cup.

Goodell joins Delaney Wilcox (Hinsdale), Halle Dickerson (Bellows Falls), Madison Streeter (Bellows Falls), Adam Newton (BUHS), Hailey Derosia (BUHS), Rachael Rooney (BUHS) and Anthony Palomba (BUHS) as winter winners. Her prize is a night of free Cosmic Bowling for two at Brattleboro Bowl.

Tayler Courchesne

She finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and six steals to power the Twin Valley varsity girls basketball team to a 66-15 rout of Woodstock.

Isaac Freitas-Eagan

The Brattleboro Nordic skier finished first overall in 17:34, which was over one minute ahead of runner-up Jack Drew of MAU, in the Marble Valley League Classic Championship race in Woodford.

Mariah Hazard

The star forward went off for 15 points, scoring on three consecutive possessions at one point, when the Leland & Gray varsity girls basketball team fell to Springfield 40-34.

Ryan Kelly

He lit up Leland & Gray for 29 points to lead the Bellows Falls varsity boys basketball team to a convincing 63-41 victory over the Rebels.

Caleb Steever

The Hinsdale boys basketball standout racked up 11 points, 12 rebounds and five steals when the Pacers faced Portsmouth Christian.
