Hazard leads Rebels with double-double

TOWNSHEND — The Leland & Gray varsity girls basketball team trampled Black River, 44-9, on Tuesday evening.

Mariah Hazard had a double-double (16 points, 10 rebounds) to lead the winners. Sydney Hescock added six points and nine boards, while Morgan Stevens, Arin Bates and Maris Linder combined for a dozen assists.

The Rebels improved to 3-2 overall.

Rec League Basketball

BRATTLEBORO — Allie Houghton, Annie Holiday, Kate Margaitis, Brittany Bailey, Bridget Bourne, Rhianna Kendrick, Kristy Butynski, Courtney Sontag, Anna White and Kaili Williamson played solid defense as Houghton defeated Austin Design 47-29 in a women's league basketball game on Monday at the Gibson-Aiken Center.

Bailey (15 points), Margaitis (15) and Holiday (14) had the hot hands. Meghan Agnes netted nine points, on three trifectas, to lead Austin Design.

In the other contest, Ashley Clough poured in 15 points and Ashley Gomarlo followed with 14 in Marina's 56-38 decision over Chroma. Jackie Kissel scored 15 points in a losing effort.
