Hinsdale girls dominate, defeat Newport 1-0

HINSDALE, N.H. — Lexie Leclaire scored in the first half, assisted by Kristen Davis, and the Hinsdale varsity girls soccer team held on for a 1-0 win over Newport on Tuesday.



"This was a game that we controlled from start to finish," said Hinsdale coach Jay Cudworth, whose team held a 29-6 advantage in shots and a 5-1 edge in corners. "We possessed the ball for long stretches, but we just could not finish in the end."



Angelina Nardolillo made a diving save to her right on a second-half breakaway to preserve the victory for the 7-5 Pacers, who will play at top-ranked Sunapee on Friday at 4 p.m.



Cross Country



MANCHESTER — The Brattleboro cross-country teams swept a Marble Valley League meet on Tuesday.



Sarah Gallagher won the girls race in 23:07 as the Colonels (28 points) topped Burr and Burton (38), Rutland (68) and Long Trail (112). Rounding out the scoring for the BUHS girls were Bella Takacs, 5th, 24:15; Alexandra Miskovich, 11th, 26:24; Liz Morse, 13th, 27:01; and Ellery Loggia, 14th, 27:17.



In the boys team scoring, it was Brattleboro (27), Rutland (48) and MAU (50) taking the top three spots. Leading the way for Brattleboro were Trevor Kipp (3rd), Finn LaMorder (5th), Evan Koch (7th), Bram Tabachnick (13th) and Nolan Holmes (17th).



Brattleboro will compete in the CVC Championships at Fall Mountain on Friday.



Girls Soccer



WESTMINSTER — Olivia White had a hat trick to lead Otter Valley to a 3-0 decision over Bellows Falls on Tuesday. The 1-10 Terriers will face Twin Valley on Thursday.
