Hinsdale school kicks off Year of the Book
HINSDALE, N.H. — Hinsdale Elementary School will kick off a year celebrating reading, writing and literacy this Friday.
Hinsdale Elementary is one of five statewide winners of a Year of the Book grant program valued at $25,000 from the Children's Literacy Foundation (CLiF). The grant provides literacy presentations, such as writing workshops; author visits and field trips; support for school staff and families; new children's books for the school and town libraries; and new books for Hinsdale children to choose and keep.
Duncan McDougall, CLiF's executive director, will help Hinsdale Elementary launch the grant with a kick-off celebration, including a storytelling presentation and book giveaway, beginning at 9:15 a.m. on Sept. 6 and continuing throughout the day. Parents/caretakers and community members are invited to attend.
"We are really looking forward to the opportunity the grant will provide, creating extensive exposure to literature and fostering a love of reading," said Joe Boggio, principal.
CLiF Year of the Book programming in Hinsdale Elementary School is sponsored by the Helen G. Hauben Foundation.
