Internships available for future art professionals
BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Museum & Art Center is accepting applications for an internship program designed to mentor the next generation of museum and non-profit professionals. Openings are available for those interested in gallery and marketing work, and education and interpretation
The gallery and marketing intern will assist the gallery manager and marketing coordinator in running day-to-day gallery operations of a small, non-collecting contemporary art museum, as well as effectively supporting marketing practices through all available museum communication channels. On any given day the intern may be connecting with media contacts, helping to get mailings out the door, sorting through photos to use for upcoming promotions, writing radio spots, recording gallery attendance statistics, answering phones, taking registrations for events, researching exhibiting artists, prepping items for the gift shop, and generating content for various social media platforms. The intern may also assist with exhibition installation, and general office work as needed.
An education and interpretation intern would gain hands-on experience with facilitating discussion about contemporary art and artists' practices; designing activities for visitors of all ages, including those that reinforce classroom curriculum and relate to museum exhibitions; collaborating with other community organizations to create engaging programming; working directly with artists to produce video of their studio work; researching and drafting interpretive materials for different exhibits; and assisting with various installation tasks.
BMAC interns will be trained to staff the gallery greeter desk, as well as be required to work some museum events.
