Knickerbocker places 6th, 7th in Harris Hill events


BRATTLEBORO — Spencer Knickerbocker, of Brattleboro, placed sixth in the Pepsi Challenge on Saturday and then took seventh in the Fred Harris Memorial during the annual Harris Hill Ski Jump.

Knickerbocker soared 79 meters in both of his attempts on Saturday. The top six finishers in the Open Class were: Slovenia's Gasper Bartol (95.0, 94.5), Austria's Florian Gugg (96.0, 95.0), Slovenia's David Krapez (86.0, 96.0), Slovenia's Zak Silih (80.0, 86.0), and Austria's Mathias Eder (75.0, 85.0).

Bartol also prevailed in the Fred Harris Memorial on Sunday, thanks to jumps of 94.5 and 99.0. Knickerbocker flew distances of 84.5 and 80.0 to place seventh, behind Bartol, Krapez, Silih, Gugg, Chris Lamb of New Hampshire, and Eder.

Also on Saturday, Annika Belshaw of Steamboat Springs was the only female competitor and soared 78.0 and 81.0. And Decker Dean of Steamboat Springs won the U18 division after jumps of 93.0 and 94.0. Slovenia's Zan Stupar struck gold in the U18 class on Sunday, with marks of 94.5 and 95.0.
