Koch, Luebbert shine in the Decathlon
BURLINGTON — Brattleboro's Evan Koch finished third in the 110 hurdles in a time of 15.83 seconds on his way to placing fifth with 5184 points in the recent Vermont Decathlon Championship at the University of Vermont. The top area finisher in the women's event was Bellows Falls' Jaden Luebbert, who cleared 2.85 meters to tie for first in the pole vault and wound up 17th overall with 3395 points.
Brattleboro's Ben Brady took fifth in the 400 in 53.56 seconds. Gabe Hakimoglu, of Bellows Falls, ended up seventh in both the 100 and the high jump.
On the women's side, Brattleboro's Sylvie Normandeau tied for eighth in the pole vault as injured teammate Maggie Lonardo cheered her on. BF's Ashlynn Boucher wound up 11th in the 1500, 12th in the 400, and tied for 12th in the pole vault.
Wyatt Lamell (5639 points) of Essex and Saint Johnsbury's Lia Rotti (5518 points) each finished first. The events included the long jump, pole vault, high jump, javelin, discus, shot put, hurdles, 1500, 400, and 100.
