Kurn Hattin's Baltazar breaks school record

LEBANON, N.H. — Jacob Baltazar placed second in the 400 to help the Kurn Hattin boys track and field team finish 10th in the Connecticut Valley League Middle School championship meet on Saturday. His time of 1:00.07 broke Zac Corban's school record.

Baltazar was also part of Kurn Hattin's 4x100 relay team which set a new school record and placed eighth overall in 56.06 seconds.

In the girls team scoring, Brattleboro finished fourth, Chesterfield sixth, and Bellows Falls ninth.

Ava Whitney won the 200 in 27.67 seconds and took second in the 400 in 1:02 to power the BAMS girls. Priya Kitzmiller bronzed in the triple jump for Brattleboro.

BF's Susannah Pennell silvered in the 800 in a time of 2:38, while teammate Katie Edwards ended up third in the 1600 in 5:58. Chesterfield and Bellows Falls took first and second respectively in the 4x200 relay.

Chesterfield (7th), Brattleboro (8th), Bellows Falls (9th) and Kurn Hattin (10th) all competed in the boys championship meet.

Gavin Joy finished first in the shot put with a heave of 31-11 to pace BF. Will Noble chipped in with a silver in the long jump (15-10).

Chesterfield won the 4x100 relay race and also wound up third in the 4x200. Jayden Frazier (2nd in triple jump), Isaac Nelson (4th in 400), and Josh Morel (6th in 200) all stepped up on the big stage.

Sam Hall ran a 12.38 in the 100 dash and finished fifth to lead the BAMS boys.
