Latchis to screen 'County Music' documentary
BRATTLEBORO — Vermont PBS will present a free preview screening of the latest documentary by Ken Burns, "Country Music," followed by a discussion with country music musicians Jamie Lee Thurston, Flynn Cohen and Chris Brashear at the Latchis Theatre, 50 Main St., from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12.
"Country Music" is a 16-hour series exploring the history of a uniquely American art form. From its deep and tangled roots in ballads, blues and hymns performed in small settings, to its worldwide popularity, learn how country music evolved over the course of the 20th century. "Country Music" features never-before-seen footage and photographs, plus interviews with more than 80 country music artists. The documentary premieres on Vermont PBS on Sunday, Sept. 15.
