Letter: Carbon tax would help the cause

Editor of the Reformer,

If humans want to cut down on air pollution, we have a tool we can use — the carbon tax. If our political leaders slapped a tax on burning fuel tomorrow, in short order our carbon emissions would be reduced.

People point to lots of problems that the carbon tax would cause. But every single one of those problems has a reasonable solution. I think Americans are getting close to the tipping point, where most of us are willing to give up some of our luxury in exchange for a healthier environment. For encouraging us all, thank you to all who participated in the Climate Strike!

Greta Thunberg, in her speech to the United Nations, scolded our political leaders for believing in "fairy tales of eternal economic growth." Thank You, Greta, for reminding us that our world is getting smaller every day.
