Letter: Don't fall for the fear

Editor of the Reformer:

Much of the anti-nuclear opposition comes from an intentional fear campaign started to stop atmospheric nuclear weapons testing, and extended to "ban the bomb" and then to "stop nuclear power." Notice this campaign never gives numbers for exposures to radiation, which all life has evolved in. Too much is deadly, just like oxygen. Ask Scuba divers who can't breathe pure oxygen.

In answer to the writer's questions: Nuclear power is not a mistake. Used commercial fuel will probably stay where it is, in our country. Opponents block every proposed solution. The used fuel will eventually be sold overseas, for the valuable fuel remaining in it. Note that used naval fuel and other used fuel has been safely shipped, as has much commercial fuel.
