Letter: Exciting times for HatchSpace
Editor of the Reformer,
We at HatchSpace are very grateful for the feature story on Friday, Feb 1. We are particularly pleased with the wide range of voices included. We see HatchSpace as a community resource for anyone interested in woodworking and other crafts. We intend to work with other area craftspeople to promote the widest possible range of craft teaching and work.
I am writing to make two small corrections. The article did not include the fact that Hatchspace is a registered 501c-3 non-profit. As such, we are able to receive tax- exempt donations. The tools we received from the Brattleboro Area Middle School were donated to us and not purchased.
Also, our membership fees are significantly lower than the stated $240 per quarter. Membership is $180 per quarter and $90 for volunteer members.
We are now open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with some introductory classes on the way and structured open shop time starting next week. Over the next several months we will roll out more advanced woodworking classes and some classes designed for Women in Woodworking. We are also planning some exciting programs designed for younger people.
I look forward to seeing you at Hatchspace.
