Letter: It's about time

Editor of the Reformer:

Hooray. The Vermont Agency of Transportation has finally awakened and changed the signage for vehicles entering the circle so that those entering in the right hand lane must exit at the next right. Those vehicles (other than large semi-trucks) wishing to go straight through, turn left, or make a U-turn must be in the left lane entering the circle. Enforcing this most reasonable solution to the existing conflicts will be the trick. I suggest that conflicts resulting in fender benders between drivers ignoring the immediate right turn rule and those on the inside track wishing go straight or turn left (i.e., exit the circle by crossing the outside lane of the circle) be automatically deemed the fault of the "rim rider," if no other issue is involved.

Peter Abell,
