Letter: Library resignations causing distress

To the Editor:

As a longtime supporter of the Wardsboro Library, I am appalled by the Trustees' recent action ordering the library to reopen despite opposition from the staff. The trustees have made a serious mistake and should resign. The Select Board should appoint a new board of trustees as soon as is humanly possible, and the new trustees should rehire the library staff.

Then the trustees and the staff can discuss the date and conditions for reopening the library. Although this event has already caused considerable distress in the community, the problem can be remedied with swift, intelligent action.

Many individuals have worked hard for many years to make our library the excellent place that it is. Our librarian and her staff are key to its success. This is a serious setback, and we need to work together to overcome it.
