Libardoni's Lads off to 3-2-2 start

BRATTLEBORO — The Brattleboro Union High School varsity boys ice hockey team is off to a strong start, with early victories over Lyndon, Saint Johnsbury and Milton.

Joe Koes was a hero versus Milton, as his power play goal gave the Colonels a 1-0 decision on Jan. 2. Goalie Austin Wood was the other hero that day for coach Eric Libardoni's team, making a dozen saves for the shutout.

Rookie head coach Eugene Frost captured his first win on Jan. 5, when the BUHS girls ice hockey team topped Spaulding 5-2.

Hailey Derosia had a double-double (12 points, 10 rebounds) when the Brattleboro varsity girls basketball team downed Hartford 51-35 on Monday. Rachael Rooney poured in a team-high 15 points to lead the purple and white's offense.

Floor general Tyler Millerick has been in a zone for the BUHS varsity boys basketball team, leading a comeback bid against Amherst, scoring a team-high 13 points in a win over MSJ, and making nine of his 10 shots from the charity stripe on his way to 15 points against Otter Valley.
