Lonardo represents BUHS well in Maine

SACO, Maine — Brattleboro Union High School junior Maggie Lonardo placed fourth in the long jump and fifth in the 100 at the 74th Interscholastic Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Thornton Academy.

Lonardo leaped 17-10 in the long jump, finishing behind Brooklyn Manna (18-03), Camille Kohtala (18-02), and Marybeth Fitzsimmons (18-00). She also ran a 12.47 in the 100, trailing only Chelsea Mitchell (12.20), Cori Richardson (12.25), Caroline Schissel (12.43), and Fitzsimmons (12.44).

Lonardo, who also teamed up with Brattleboro's Dory Abdallah, Alina Secrest and Isabella Lonardo for the 23rd position (52.37) in the 4x100 relay race, is going to compete in the Vermont Decathlon Championship in Burlington on June 17-18.

Bellows Falls' Jaden Luebbert finished 20th in the pole vault (9-09) at the New England meet. BF's Abby Broadley wound up 23rd overall in the 3200 in 11:37, BF's Emma Lawrence ended up 28th in the shot put after a heave of 31-10, and BF's Macie Streeter took 30th in the javelin with a mark of 86-02.

In the boys' meet, Brattleboro's Evan Koch was 24th in the 300 hurdles in a time of 42.58 seconds. BF's Reno Tuttle placed 25th in the discus with a launch of 129-08.
