Lonardo wins 3 events at qualifier
SPRINGFIELD — Brattleboro's Maggie Lonardo finished first in the 100 (12.91), 200 (27.51) and long jump (15-01) at the Connecticut Valley Conference's South Qualifier on Tuesday at Springfield High School.
Sylvie Normandeau and Olivia Ortlieb also won an event for the Brattleboro girls track and field team. Normandeau cleared 7-5 to take the pole vault title and Ortlieb prevailed in the high jump with a mark of 4-07.
Striking gold for Bellows Falls were: Abby Broadley in the 3200 in 11:49, Brigid Hodsden in the 100 hurdles in 17.68, Macie Streeter in the javelin with a heave of 99-00, and Jasmine Boucher in the triple jump with a mark of 31-00. Maggie St. John placed fifth in the 3200 to lead the Hinsdale girls.
Brattleboro's Evan Koch was the only double winner from the area in the boys meet, as he took the 110 hurdles in 16.21 and the 300 hurdles in 44.24. The Colonels' Mike Anderson was the shot put champion with a throw of 40-11.
Gabe Hakimoglu (200) and Reno Tuttle (discus) each finished first for Bellows Falls. Daniel Roberts (javelin) placed third and Calvin Atkins (discus) ended up fourth to power the Pacers.
Also competing were athletes from Green Mountain, Springfield, Fall Mountain, Keene and Monadnock.
The CVC Championships will take place at Hanover High School on Saturday at 10 a.m.
