Mahoney hits .375 in first season

BRATTLEBORO — Jamie Mahoney played in 14 games during her freshman season with the Rhode Island College softball team, which went 17-15 in the spring.

The Brattleboro Union High School graduate had a .375 average, going 6 for 16. She drove in two runs, swiped a pair of bases, and crossed the plate eight times.

Mahoney's best performance took place during her team's 12-4 win over Mitchell on April 3. She went 2 for 4, stole a base, scored a run, and added one RBI. She also went 1 for 1 versus both Randolph-Macon and Keene State.

The young catcher is majoring in Medical Imaging.

Mahoney was a four-time Marble Valley League selection while playing for the Colonels. She batted .460 and stole 16 bases during her senior season.

She helped the purple and white to a 13-3 record during the 2018 regular season. Her BUHS teammates that year included Mariah Powers, Kayla Leonard-Houle, Olivia Leonard-Houle, Meary Seery, Hailey Derosia, Lauren McKenney, Mya McAuliffe, Kathryn Wocell, Brooke Barrows, Rachael Rooney, Garrett Shanks, Julie Hendricks, and Alexa Kinley.
