Martin is 8th athlete of the week winner this season
BRATTLEBORO — The day after the Los Angeles Lakers returned to the court and honored their former star, a young woman wearing Kobe Bryant's No. 24 on her back was looking very much like the female version of "The Black Mamba."
Audrey Martin would pour in a team-high 18 points for the Hinsdale varsity girls basketball team against Newmarket.
The starting forward later received 165 votes to earn Brattleboro Reformer Athlete of the Week honors for Jan. 26 to Feb. 1.
"She deserves it," mentioned Bethany Cashman on her online ballot.
Martin joins Isaac Wilkinson, Griffin Waryas, Halle Dickerson, Ryan Kelly, Taylor Goodell, Rachael Rooney and Dylan Harden as winners this winter. They are all in the running for the Marina's second prize.

The sophomore guard scored in double figures in victories over Rivendell (12 points) and Brattleboro (10 points) as the Bellows Falls varsity girls basketball team increased its winning streak to nine straight.
She scored 16 points to propel the Hinsdale varsity girls basketball team to a 65-37 victory over Portsmouth Christian.
During the Brattleboro varsity boys hockey team's thrilling 3-2 win over Milton, he finished the game with one goal and a couple of assists.
The Twin Valley varsity girls basketball player recorded a double-double (18 points, 14 rebounds) during her team's 58-29 rout of Green Mountain.
