Mets earn 4th Little League win

BRATTLEBORO — Gabe Alexander threw 3 1/3 innings of two-run ball on Monday to lead the Mets to their fourth Little League baseball victory of the season — doubling their win total from last year.

Alexander allowed just three hits and struck out four batters in the Mets' 19-2 rout of the Cardinals. He also had a base hit and scored four runs while teaming up with John Satterfield to wreak havoc on the base paths. Satterfield finished with two hits and four runs scored. Will Miskovich had two long hits — a double and a scorching two-run triple. Matthew Montgomery added a double, while Evan Wright and Landyn Cartee each scored two runs. Cartee also made a successful mound debut, striking out the last two batters of the game.

Jolie Glidden of the Cardinals got the start and struck out seven batters across three innings of work. The hurler also hit an RBI single in the first inning. Alaya Smith and Chase Austin scored the Redbirds' two runs. The Cards also got base hits from Asher Jackson and Eli Coughlin.

The current Brattleboro Little League standings look like this: A's 6-0, Pirates 4-2, Reds 4-2, Giants 4-2, Mets 4-3, Red Sox 2-4, Cardinals 1-6, Royals 0-6.

The Pirates and A's are scheduled to face off tonight at 5:30. On Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., the Royals will take on the Reds.
