Millerick earns football, academic honor

BRATTLEBORO — Brattleboro Union High School senior Tyler Millerick is one of six National Football Foundation Vermont High School Scholar-Athlete inductees, based on his contributions in the classroom and on the gridiron.

The son of Chris and Courtney Millerick helped the Colonels win their first state championship since 1973. He threw for 144 yards and ran for 56 more during his team's 46-7 victory over Bellows Falls in the Division 2 title tilt.

Millerick will play quarterback for the Western New England University football team in the fall.

Fun Run

BRATTLEBORO — Haley Richards (1 mile), Chuck Adams (2 miles), Jack May (3 miles) and Melissa Stewart (2.4-mile trail run) were the Week 1 virtual Fun Run winners.

Week 2 participants can run one of the four race distances on Upper Dummerston Road between Monday and May 17. You can either register at Run Sign Up and post your results there, or email your name, age, town of residence, distance you ran, and your time to by 5 p.m. on May 17.

The start/finish line is located near the entrance to the Brattleboro Country Club. The turning points for each out-and-back road course are marked with chalk.
