Moment of Peace presents 'A Journey of Forgiveness'


BRATTLEBORO —"A Journey of Forgiveness" will be the topic of the monthly Moment of Peace, Friday from 5:30 to 6 p.m. at Centre Congregational Church, 193 Main St.

In this Moment of Peace, Dr. T Namaya will present poems, art, and stories on forgiveness and reconciliation to engage people on the topic of forgiveness. He will present from several of his books on the theme of Forgiveness, including "Celebrate Life: Viva La Vida," "Thirst: A Novella of Redemption," and "Journal of the Plague: Living and working with AIDS." Also presented will be poems from his journey in South Africa in 2019 that explored apartheid.

He will be in Vietnam in January and February 2020 at the "New Space Art Center" in Hue with a writing/art/ photography residency on "The Journey of

Forgiveness." Namaya is a USN Vietnam era veteran.

In a news release, Namaya said, "As I was invited to speak on this Moment of Peace, I began to reflect on one of the major tenets of my work and community projects, (which) is the theme of forgiveness as an integral component to peace building. I underscore, I am not an expert on forgiveness, merely a student and an artist who fearlessly explores what is the nature of forgiveness."

Namaya is a Vietnam era veteran who has spent the decades since working on peace and international community development. With his B4 Peace team he works with peace building groups like Veterans for Peace and the International Network of Peace Museums, and his poem "100 Flowers of Peace" translated into 110 languages is on display at peace centers worldwide.
