BRATTLEBORO — New England Youth Theatre is offering online programming while its in-person programming remains on hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to executive director Hallie Flowers, New England Youth Theatre is offering a playwriting group led by its education director, Putnam Smith, on Tuesdays and Thursdays in real time from 3 to 4 p.m. Smith also also includes Google doc activities that can happen anytime. Interested kids and parents can contact him at and he will send a digital invite.

The class started Tuesday, but "It is not too late to join and is free" Flowers said.

The organization also has activities happening through its social media platforms. It is hosting livestreamed events on Facebook with student mentors and faculty, and families can go to New England Youth Theatre's Facebook page to keep up to date on those events. Parents and older students on Facebook can also participate in "Jane, Sandy, and Amy's Socially Distant Entertainment Group"

"We just want to stay connected to our families and community," Flowers said of the efforts.
