Nominations are being sought for the next group of Emerging Leaders of Southern Vermont who will be recognized at the fourth annual Southern Vermont Economy Summit on May 28.

The Economy Summit is an initiative of the Brattleboro Development Credit Corp.'s Southern Vermont Economy Project. The purpose of the Emerging Leaders nomination is to highlight and honor young professionals in their roles as leaders and change makers in the Southern Vermont economy.

During last year's summit, 24 emerging leaders of Southern Vermont were recognized. This year's summit will again highlight young professionals in Bennington County and the Windham region so they can be recognized both regionally, and supported at the state level. The young professionals nominated and recognized at the May 28 event will also be nominated for the VBM Vermont Rising Star award by the two Young Professional groups hosting this recognition. Last year seven Emerging Leaders from southern Vermont became Vermont Rising Stars.

Nominations are due March 1. Nominee must be between 20 something and 40 something, and must work in Vermont. Previously recognized Emerging Leaders will not be honored again. Nominees will be notified and asked to supply the selection committee with more detailed information about themselves. Honorees will be chosen by the Southern Vermont Young Professionals and the Shires Young Professionals selection committee who co-sponsor the Emerging Leaders Event.
