Pair of starters return for Pacers

BRATTLEBORO — The first five games of the season will take place inside "the Stable" for the Hinsdale varsity boys basketball team, which is coming off of a 10-9 campaign.

Danny Roberts, who averaged 8.3 points per game last winter, is one of two returning starters for the Pacers. The other is senior Ryen LeClair.

"They have a lot of experience and will be the leaders in helping this team develop for another playoff run. Both of them offer the opportunity to drive to the hoop and hit shots from behind the arc," said Hinsdale coach Carl Anderson.

Big things will also be expected from juniors Ryan Lee and Dylan Harden.

"Lee looks to be on pace to have a big year, as he started to come into his own late last season. He will help clean the boards and has a nice mid-range shot to offer," noted Anderson. "Harden could be this year's piece that puts it all together. He will be playing inside but also can shoot from behind the arc."

Garrett Carrier, Arth Patel and Dan Tetreault will all be asked to knock down outside shots. Patel and sophomore Jason Cowan will be counted on for some solid defense.

"Cowan will help out on defense, with his speed and eye for the ball, which could help out in transition," Anderson mentioned.

The Pacers' last game was a 59-35 loss to Newmarket in the opening round of the Division 4 playoffs. Their top three scorers in that contest and for the season — Ryan Boggio, Caleb Steever and Peter McCosker — have all graduated.

The blue and white will debut on Friday night at home versus Moultonborough at 6:30.
