Meet the artists
Main Street Arts is hosting a reception from 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday for the public to meet the participants in its community art show. The show opened November 12 and runs through Tuesday, Dec. 31 and features art work across a wide range of media, with artists from amateurs to professionals and representing a variety of age groups. Main Street Arts mounts the show each year to give artists an opportunity to share their work with their neighbors who may not be aware of their talents. The reception is free and open to all members of the community. Film series presents 'One Town at A Time'
The "Framed" documentary film series at Next Stage Arts Project in Putney continues at 7 p.m. Thursday with a screening of "One Town at A Time," a documentary about Vermont's 251 Club, and a question and answer session with filmmaker Mike Leonard. Tickets are $12. The screening is co-presented by Next Stage Arts and the Putney Historical Society. Next Stage Arts is at 15 Kimball Hill in Putney.
Miscast Cabaret at Main Street Arts
Main Street Arts will bring musical theater to the stage with a twist in the Miscast Cabaret on Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
Some of the community art center's most talented vocalists will tackle show tunes usually performed by the opposite gender for an unforgettable evening of entertainment in an informal cabaret setting. Performers recently seen in Main Street Arts' musical productions of "The Secret Garden," "Chicago," "Sweeney Todd," "Pinafore" and "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" will perform songs they love but happen to be written for characters they may never have a chance to play.

Heather Pierson Acoustic Trio plays Sunday
The Heather Pierson Acoustic Trio will appear at Stage 33 Live on Sunday at 2 p.m.The Trio performs a rich variety of Pierson's originals, jazz and blues standards, and unique reworkings of American music. Audiences will find something for everyone, from New Orleans jazz and blues to folk, Americana and pop. Tickets are $10. Stage 33 is at 33 Bridge St. in Bellows Falls. 'Dynamic Duos' at music center
The Sarasa Chamber Music Ensemble will present "Dynamic Duos," a program exploring some of the many partnerships that sprang up during the Baroque era between famous violinist-composers and their favorite cellists, at the Brattleboro Music Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 29 at Brattleboro Music Center, 75 Blanche Moyse Way. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for students and available at bmcvt.org.
The Surly Temple performs Dec. 4
Pioneer Valley legends The Surly Temple play a free show at the Dover Town Hall on Taft Brook Rd. in Dover, VT on Wed.
