Sept. 27

- At 11:40 p.m., the Vermont State Police responded to Interstate 91 northbound, near mile marker 14 in Dummerston, for a report of male dressed in black running in and out of traffic. Police responded to the area and located Susan Hosmer, 61, of Naples, Fla., in the break down lane of I-91. Hosmer was arrested for disorderly conduct, impeding the flow of traffic. Police later had rescue personnel transport her to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for a mental health screening.

Oct. 12

- At 5:30 p.m., a member of the Vermont State Police responded to Route 103 in Cavendish for a car versus bear crash. Investigation revealed that a vehicle being driven by Thomas Hannigan, 32, of Bellows Falls, was traveling north at approximately 50 mph when he struck a black bear which entered into his travel lane. Hannigan was not injured in this crash and his vehicle was towed from the scene by H&K towing. The bear died.

- The Vermont State Police received a report of a burglary to a business on Route 5 in Putney. Members of the State Police responded to the area. Investigation revealed that on Oct. 12, at about 10 p.m., an unknown person had forced entry through a rear door of the Basketville Store in Putney. Oct. 15

- At midnight, the Vermont State Police received a report of a vehicle that was operating erratically near Exit 4 on Interstate 91 in Putney. A trooper traveled to the area and was able to locate the vehicle in question near mile marker 27, northbound, on I-91. The trooper performed a motor-vehicle stop and further investigation revealed that the operator, Cody B. Wright, 27, of East Hardwick, was operating while under the influence of drugs. Wright was arrested for driving under the influence.

All persons named in the Police Log are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
