Purple Gang rolls versus Mount Abe

BRISTOL — Logan Cota threw a couple of touchdown passes and ran for two more scores, helping the Bellows Falls varsity football team to a 54-0 rout of Mount Abe on Saturday.

Shane Clark chipped in with 127 yards on the ground and one TD. Noah Rawling, Ryan Kelly, Spencer Clark and Julian Christiansen also reached the end zone.

Reno Tuttle and Cota led the Purple Gang with seven tackles each. McGregor Vancor had an interception, and Hunter Smith recovered a fumble.

The 5-1 Terriers will play at Fair Haven on Friday night at 7.

Bellows Falls field hockey

WESTMINSTER — Abbe Cravinho and Reaghan Baldasaro each had a hat trick as the Terriers trumped Windsor 10-1 on Friday.

Molly Kelly tallied twice for the winners. Madison Streeter and Dani Marchica each scored once.

The 10-0 Terriers, who are on a 33-game winning streak, will play at Brattleboro on Tuesday.

WHITE RIVER JCT. — On Friday, the Colonels lost to Hartford 2-0.

The teams played to a scoreless first half. In her first varsity start, freshman goalie Kaylyn Bailey made a dozen saves for the visitors.

Brattleboro (3-6) will host undefeated Bellows Falls on Tuesday.

Bellows Falls girls soccer

WESTMINSTER — Olivia Rockwood and Morgan McKeen each scored in Windsor's 2-1 victory over Bellows Falls.

Amyra Terena, Emma Graham and Hannah Dupuis all played a part in BF's goal, which tied the score at 1-1 with 16 minutes remaining. Sydney Bazin and Izzy Stack both played well in the midfield for the Terriers, while Madi Pencek finished with eight saves.

Bellows Falls (1-8) will play at Twin Valley on Monday at 6 p.m.

Leland & Gray girls soccer

TOWNSHEND — The Rebels took 21 more shots than Windsor, but somehow fell to the YellowJackets 1-0.

"We dominated the entire game," said Leland & Gray coach Lucas Bates, who noted that goalie Ellie Longo made two saves. "We just did not crash the net enough."

The 4-5 Rebels gave up a goal five minutes into the second half on a corner.

Twin Valley girls soccer

WILMINGTON — Nina Reichelm and Lauren Abdow found the back of the net as Stratton zipped the Wildcats 2-0 on Saturday.

"Tayler Courchesne had a great day in goal, making numerous big saves. She kept us in the game and gave us a chance," stated Twin Valley coach Chris Walling. "We are struggling to score goals. We are now up to 240 minutes (three games) without a score. It was a great effort versus a talented team, however two mistakes cost us the two goals on unmarked SMS players."

The 2-6-1 Wildcats will welcome Bellows Falls on Monday night at 6.

Boys Soccer

RUTLAND — Rutland had a 21-1 advantage in shots on goal during a 2-0 victory over Brattleboro on Saturday.

Emmett Dews made six saves in the first half for the Colonels and Josh Nordheim made some highlight stops over the last 40 minutes. Alejandro Cornman was the defensive standout for Brattleboro (4-5-1).

Eli Henni scored the game-winning goal, assisted by Jensen Kelley. Andres Aguilar later added an insurance tally.

Cross Country

THETFORD — The Brattleboro boys and girls teams placed 12th and 16th respectively at the Woods Trail Run, which drew 50 schools and 1,161 runners.

After taking the SATs in the morning, Isaac Freitas-Eagan paced the BUHS boys by finishing 10th overall in 17:23. Colin Costa-Walsh was 42nd in 18:16, Trevor Kipp took 110th in 19:06, Bram Tabachnik ended up 143rd in 19:31, and Evan Koch placed 175th in 19:47 to round out the scoring for the purple and white.

Leading the way for the Brattleboro girls were: Sarah Gallagher, 13th, 20:40; Emilia Dick-Fiora del Fabro, 131st, 23:15; Liz Morse, 132nd, 23:15; Alexandra Miskovich, 158th, 23:46; and Bella Takacs, 215th, 24:44.

The Putney School's Delaney Bullock wound up sixth overall in the girls race in 20:06.

The Colonels will compete in the All League Meet on Tuesday at Burr and Burton.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Willie Moore, a 2015 Bellows Falls graduate, placed ninth in 27:28 to help the University of Colorado men's cross-country team win the Rust Buster title.
