Raptors take second in tourney

CLAREMONT, N.H. — The Green Mountain Raptors girls grades 3-4 basketball team finished second in a tournament last weekend.

The nine-person team made up of players from Brattleboro, Dummerston, Vernon, Hinsdale, Chesterfield, and Swanzey went 3-2 in the double-elimination event. After losing to Springfield White 19-14 in the opener, the Raptors defeated the Hopkinton Hawks 10-8, downed Springfield Green 9-7, and topped Springfield White 16-13 in overtime.

In the championship game on Saturday, the locals lost to host Claremont Rec 21-13. Trailing 13-4 at the intermission, the Raptors rallied to within 14-13 with three minutes to go.

Green Mountain Raptors players Rya Tetreault and Macie Gilbert were both honored after the dust settled. Tetreault was named to the All Tournament Team and Gilbert received the Sportsmanship Award.
