Rebels outscore Otters, 4-1

BRANDON — After winning the Josh Cole Tournament, the Leland & Gray varsity boys soccer team topped Otter Valley 4-1 on Tuesday.

Nathan Claussen, Pat McDonald, Liam Towle, and Rain Holmes all scored one goal for the winners. Quinn Kelloway was solid between the posts.

The Rebels will play at Burr and Burton on Friday.

JV Football

FAIR HAVEN — Bellows Falls routed Fair Haven, 40-0.

The JV Terriers got TD runs from Andrew Elliott (25 yards), Hunter Holmes (40 yards), Hunter Smith (60 yards), and McGregor Vancor (65 yards). Joe Terry added a 30-yard touchdown strike to Dylan Clark.

Vancor also had an interception for Bellows Falls, which will host Burr and Burton on Sept. 25 at 4 p.m.

Ice Hockey

EASTHAMPTON, Mass. — The Brattleboro Hawks entry in the Greater Springfield League's U18 Preseason High School Hockey division opened up with an 8-1 victory over the Nonotuck Knights on Sunday morning.

Nathan Powers had a hat trick and also dished out two assists for the winners. Connor Murphy tallied twice, while Kamron Pelkey, Joe Koes, and Anthony Palomba all scored one goal.

Goaltender Austin Wood carried the load for Brattleboro between the pipes, turning back all but one Nonotuck shot sent his way. Wood was at his best when the Hawks needed him most, stopping a breakaway late in the first period.

The Hawks return to action next weekend, traveling to Holyoke, Mass. to take on the Pioneer Valley Lightning's Purple squad.
