Renaud is Lightning Stocks champion

BRATTLEBORO — With her father and brother looking on, Vernon's Hillary Renaud took the lead on lap 10 and held on to win the Lightning Stocks race on Saturday at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H.

Mike Stebbins, Steve Fucile, Cale Skillings, and Jason Barden rounded out the top five in the 25-lap feature event.

Renaud is the 2017 Lightning Stocks champion. She has 576 points, which is 100 more than runner-up Fucile.

She will officially be crowned at the speedway on Sept. 30. That Super Saturday card will include ACT Type Late Models, Sportsman Modifieds, Super Stocks, Mini Stocks, Lightning Stocks, Thunder Stocks, Young Guns, Spectator Races, and the Big Wheels.

Monadnock's awards banquet is scheduled for Nov. 11 at the Log Cabin in Holyoke, Mass. at 5 p.m.

Vernon's Pat Houle was named the Rookie of the Year in the Mini Stocks division. He finished in 13th place on Saturday night.
