MANCHESTER — An appearance by poet Reuben Jackson scheduled for Friday at the Northshire Bookstore has been canceled, the bookstore announced Tuesday.

Jackson, the author of "Scattered Clouds" and the former host of Friday Night Jazz on Vermont Public Radio, was scheduled to appear at 6 p.m. Friday at the independent bookstore in Manchester Center. The event was a rescheduling of an appearance by Jackson previously slated for last fall.

A reason for the cancellation was not provided, and there's no word on whether Jackson's appearance will be rescheduled.

A jazz archivist at the University of the District of Columbia in Washington, D.C., Jackson was formerly archivist of the Duke Ellington Collection at the Smithsonian Institution.
