Rooney voted athlete of the week

BRATTLEBORO — Brattleboro Union High School student Rachael Rooney received 127 votes to earn Reformer Athlete of the Week honors for Dec. 17-23.

The guard erupted for 25 points when the Colonels defeated Mount Greylock 54-46. She drained five trifectas on the night.

"Phenomenal job Rachael...proud of you," wrote Valerie Sargent on her Facebook ballot.

Rooney and Bellows Falls basketball player Halle Dickerson are the first two winter winners. Their prize is two free games of bowling apiece at Brattleboro Bowl.

Kaie Quigley

He went off for 27 points when the Leland & Gray varsity boys basketball team fell to Wilton 54-42 in a Holiday Tournament contest at Keene State College.

Hailey Derosia

The junior finished with a double-double (10 points, 19 rebounds) when the Brattleboro varsity girls basketball team lost 44-37 to undefeated South Burlington.

Anthony Palomba

The Brattleboro Union High School varsity boys ice hockey player had a hat trick, leading the Colonels to a 6-1 victory over Northfield.

Ryan Boggio

He scored in double figures in all three of Hinsdale's games during Keene's Holiday Tournament, racking up a combined 44 points versus Wilton, Murdock and Sunapee.
