Sample cheese, talk democracy, enjoy magic at Brown Bag Lunch

BRATTLEBORO — Strolling of the Heifers hosts its Brown Bag Lunch series from noon to 1 p.m. at the Robert H. Gibson River Garden, 157 Main St. The sessions are free and open to the public. This week, sample Grafton Village Cheese, talk about democracy, enjoy a magical performance by Jonas Cain, and more. The schedule is as follows:

Monday: Join Joe Green, cheesemonger, for a Grafton Village cheese tasting. Compare and contrast two types of Grafton Cheddar: a traditional-make clothbound cheddar and a modern-make two year.

Tuesday: Francesca Bourgault of Windham Movement Apparel will guide attendees through some tap dance basics with spunk and encouragement . Have you ever caught yourself watching others tap and thought, "gee, that looks pretty fun! I wish I could do that!" Now's the time to try it out. This mini class will be f ollowed up by a conversation about local tap and other dance opportunities. Come ready to move and groove. No taps required. Attendees receive a certificate for a free future private or small group lesson.

Wednesday: Join in for a special reprise of the summer democracy series. There's a lot going on with democracy these days. Democracy Forum host Woody Bernhard will lead a discussion to share ideas about the state of our democracy.

Thursday: Andy Hill, Brattleboro's parking consultant, presents preliminary findings from the ongoing downtown parking study and survey effort and leading a discussion on how parking will play a role in downtown commerce and vitality. Hill is the director of consulting services for Desman Design Mgt. and has been studying parking in downtown Brattleboro since June.

Friday: Experience a magical performance by Jonas Cain, a positivity expert, author, magician, and Third Degree Reiki Master on a mission to help others live a more positive lifestyle. He'll present a discussion on "following your inner light" to live a life of focus, gratitude, and intentionality. Along the way he'll share insight into his work as a Reiki Master and perform a little "magic" too. One lucky person will walk away with a free copy of his latest book "And The Pursuit Of Happiness!" This event is part of the Live Local, Live Healthy Wellness Fair .
