Starting methods for beginning portraiture

PUTNEY — Village Arts of Putney is bringing the award-winning artist/teacher, Tina Garrett, from Lees Summit, Missouri, for its first workshop this spring. Starting Methods for Beginning Portraiture will be held this weekend, Friday through Sunday. All levels are welcome to participate in this comprehensive study of oil painting starting methods including, open grisaille, accurate color wash, and selective start as described in local master painter, Richard Schmid's book, "Alla Prima II: Everything I Know About Painting."

Garrett will demonstrate how to control the palette for accurate values and color and provide insights on posing the model, lighting and painting materials.
