Terriers voted team of the season

BRATTLEBORO — When the voting began on June 10 for the Brattleboro Reformer Team of the Spring, there was little doubt about which one was going to end up in first place.

After all, it's where the Bellows Falls boys and girls track teams usually finished at their meets this season.

The Terriers were checked off on 182 ballots, ahead of the Brattleboro varsity softball team (87 votes) and the Leland & Gray boys track team (85 votes), to earn the seasonal honor.

"I think this past season is my No. 1 memory, winning both (state championships) in Division 2. What made this team so special was I got to coach all these seniors for four years and four state titles," said BF coach Tim Eno, who is retiring after 25 years in charge.

On June 1 in South Burlington, the Bellows Falls boys racked up 127 points to capture their seventh consecutive state championship. Reno Tuttle and Ryan Kelly each won a couple of events to lead the way, while Dylan Clark and the 4x100 relay team (Gabe Hakimoglu, Andrew Elliott, Connor Smith, Harrison Gleim) also prevailed.

The BF girls (107 points) would edge Rice (105) for a fourth straight title, thanks to a clutch performance by the 4x400 relay team of Jasmine Boucher, Halle Dickerson, Maya Waryas and Abby Dearborn that decided it. Jaden Luebbert contributed by striking gold in the pole vault.
