Terriers win 10th straight Trophy Game
SPRINGFIELD — The Bellows Falls varsity football team outscored rival Springfield 19-8 on Friday night at Brown Field. It was the 10th consecutive Trophy Game victory for the Terriers, who now have a 58-42 record in the series.
"You always love to beat Springfield. Ten in a row in the series is a big deal," said BF quarterback Griffin Waryas. "We definitely needed a bounce-back game. It helped us regain our confidence."
Jed Lober ran for 159 yards to lead the winners offensively, including TD runs of six and 52 yards. Waryas, who had been injured during a loss to Union-32 in Week 5, added a 40-yard touchdown strike to McGregor Vancor. Jeb Monier chipped in with an extra point.
"Our defense was very solid," noted Waryas, who sealed the deal with an interception.
Trailing 13-0, Sam Presch got the Cosmos back in it with a 65-yard bomb to Kaleb Chambers and then a two-point toss to Anthony Steele.
The 4-2 Terriers will play at North Country on Friday night at 7.
