The Met series continues at Latchis
BRATTLEBORO — The Met: Live in HD season continues at the Latchis Theatre at noon Saturday with "Die Walkure" by Richard Wagner.
Christine Goerke plays Brunnhilde, Wotan's willful warrior daughter, who loses her immortality in opera's most famous act of filial defiance. Tenor Stuart Skelton and soprano Eva-Maria Westbroek play the incestuous twins Siegmund and Sieglinde. Geer Grimsley sings Wotan, and Jamie Barton is Fricka. Philippe Jordan conducts.
In conjunction with this Live in HD presentation, representatives from Tundi Productions will be on hand to talk about and sell tickets to their upcoming live production of "Tristan und Isolde," which is scheduled to be performed at the Latchis Theatre on Aug. 23 and 25.
General admission is $22, $20 for Met Club Forever members and $10 for students. "Die Walkure" will be shown in the Main Theatre. Running time is 5 hours, 13 minutes, including two intermissions.
