This week at Yellow Barn: Narration, instruments and more
PUTNEY — Yellow Barn's concert streams continue tonight and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. with international rebroadcasts on Friday and Sunday at 2 p.m.
Tonight's and Friday's broadcasts include narrated and instrumental performances, including "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and "Ferdinand," alongside works for percussion "Gone, dog. Gone!" and "The Loneliness of Santa Claus." Performing are sopranos Elaine Daiber and Lucy Fitz Gibbon, violinists Curtis Macomber and Alice Ivy-Pemberton and percussionists Eduardo Leandro and Ayano Kataoka. Soprano Lucy Shelton returns for another John Cage song.
On Saturday night and Sunday afternoon, Yellow Barn presents a concert of doubles, including J.S. Bach's "Violin Partita in B Minor," Philippe Manoury's "Le livre des Claviers II" for two marimbas, Liza Lim's "Inguz" for clarinet and cello, Matthew Aucoin's "Dual" and George Aperghis' "Recitation" for female voice. Two John Cage songs round out the program, with one song performed by Anthony Marwood and Walter Van Dyk. Performing in person are Lucy Shelton and Elaine Daiber, sopranos; Yasmina Spiegelberg, clarinet; Coleman Itzkoff, cello; Lizzie Burns, double bass; Ayano Kataoka and Eduardo Leandro, marimbas, and Alice Ivy-Pemberton and Adelya Nartadjieva, violins.
