Town Meeting Day called 'mundane' in Westminster

WESTMINSTER — Turnout for Westminster's Town Meeting Day on Saturday was low, but that's to be expected when there aren't any controversial articles, Town Manager Russel Hodgkins said.

The school budget was increased by 11.6 percent, he said, and the municipal budget increased 4 percent.

"We had no articles from the school, or town, or fire that were hot items," Hodgkins said. "It was really slow, in that it was good."

Town Clerk Alison Bigwood agreed. "There were no real issues," she said. "No anger, thank God."

However, she said the turnout of 155 people was low. There are 2,410 registered voters in Westminster.

"It was very mundane, very typical," Hodgkins said.
