Twin Valley grad playing at Simmons
BRATTLEBORO — Junior forward Kirra Courchesne had her best game of the season in the opener, scoring eight points and adding five rebounds when her Simmons College women's basketball team fell to MIT 78-46 on Nov. 8.
The Wilmington resident had 120 career points and 126 rebounds heading into Friday's matchup with Eastern Nazarene.
Courchesne was the class president and valedictorian at Twin Valley. She was a basketball and soccer captain for the Wildcats as a senior. She also participated in track and field while in high school.
The daughter of Roger and Susan Courchesne is majoring in English at the school in Boston. She scored a career-high 13 points against Mount Ida as a freshman and was named to the Great Northeast Athletic Conference Academic All-Conference Team as a sophomore.
Courchesne and the Sharks (3-7) will play at Norwich on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
The Vernon resident has 19 points and eight rebounds during her junior season with the Johnson State College women's basketball team.
Against Green Mountain on Nov. 28, Richardson scored a season-high 10 points. The Brattleboro Union High School grad has also appeared in games against Maine-Farmington, Thomas, Norwich, Southern Vermont and UMaine-Fort Kent.
The Badgers (2-10) will host Thomas on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
