PUTNEY — Next Stage Arts Project will feature two performances this weekend, with John McCutcheon performing Friday, and Naomi Shelton & The Gospel Queens on Saturday.
Next Stage Arts Project and Twilight Music will present an evening with folksinger, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, storyteller, activist and author John McCutcheon at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Next Stage at 15 Kimball Hill
Next Stage Arts Project will then present Naomi Shelton & The Gospel Queens at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Naomi Shelton & the Gospel Queens are an American gospel and soul music group led by front woman Naomi Shelton. The group was formed in 1999, releasing two albums with Daptone Records, "What Have You Done, My Brother?" (2009) and "Cold World" (2014). Drawing on strong gospel influences and Shelton's deeply spiritual sensibility, the music is reminiscent of classic, inspirational artists such as The Staple Singers or Curtis Mayfield.
Tickets are $22 in advance, $25 at the door, available online at www.nextstagearts.org and at Turn It Up, Brattleboro, the Putney General Store. Next Stage is located at 15 Kimball Hill. For more information visit www.nextstagearts.org
