Varsity baseball: Colonels to host Terriers in opener
BRATTLEBORO — After winning 24 games over the last two seasons combined, the Brattleboro Union High School varsity baseball team will be looking to reach the Division 1 semifinals for the first time since 2010.
The Colonels went 11-7 a year ago, including a 3-0 victory over Mount Mansfield in a first-round playoff game and then a 3-2 loss to Hartford in a quarterfinal. The highlight of the season was Leif Bigelow's no-hit shutout during that playdown win in Jericho. The ace fanned seven and walked just two on the day.
