Vermont Academy girls win Class D title

SAXTONS RIVER — The Vermont Academy girls basketball team defeated Lexington Christian Academy 57-32 on March 8 to capture the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council Class D championship.

Ella Bushee, a senior from Walpole, N.H., was named the NEPSAC Class D Most Valuable Player.

The second-seeded Wildcats opened the tourney with an 82-25 win over No. 7 Watkinson School on March 4. That was followed by a 69-49 decision over The Gunnery in a semifinal on March 7.

The championship team was coached by Karen Henry. The VA players included Isabelle Ameden, Eliza Asante, Hillary Berry, Riese Bianco, Ella Bushee, Colby Casey, Savannah Mouyos, Zhenyu Qi, Skye Ryan and Haley Walker.
