Walpole man ID'd as driver in fatal crash

ATHENS — Vermont State Police have identified the driver who died in the fuel oil delivery truck crash Wednesday as a Walpole, N.H. man.

Police said Adam M. Muchmore, 35, died in the afternoon crash on Route 35. Muchmore was driving a truck owned by Allen Brothers Oil of Westminster.

Police said that Muchmore, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene. The 2020 Freightliner truck was destroyed in the crash.

Police said Muchmore was southbound from the intersection with Route 121, and the vehicle left the west edge of the road, crossed back over the south and northbound lanes and then struck a tree.

Assisting state police at the scene were the Saxtons River Fire Department, the Bellows Falls Fire Department, the Westminster Fire Department, Golden Cross Ambulance and Hillside Towing.
