Wells is Castleton's MVP


BRATTLEBORO — Bellows Falls Union High School graduate Sarah Wells was named the Castleton University field hockey team's Most Valuable Player.

The forward racked up 18 goals and eight assists during her senior season. She finished her career fifth in school history in both goals (43) and points (111), and tied for third in assists with 25.

Wells was named the Little East Conference Offensive Player of the Week twice this fall. On Oct. 26 at Keene State in the final game of the regular season, she scored the game-winning goal in double overtime to clinch the squad's regular-season crown and top seed in the LEC playoffs. Wells' season also featured a pair of hat tricks and 27 points throughout the Spartans' 11-game winning streak.

The former BF star was named an LEC First Teamer after helping the Spartans to an 11-1 conference record. She also made it on the Division 3 New England West All Region Second Team.

Wells and the Terriers had a combined 41-10-4 record from 2011-2014. She erupted for 23 goals and 20 assists as a 12th grader.
