BRATTLEBORO — Leap Year Day is coming up and BrattleMasters are preparing. "What to do with an extra day" is the theme chosen by the emcee, Lee Ives Tice of Dummerston for the next meeting, scheduled for 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27. Members of the local Toastmasters club meet twice monthly in Room 245 of the Vermont Technical College, 41 Harmony Place. The second floor of the Brooks House is handicap accessible.

Scheduled speakers are Lisa Sieverts of Nelson, N.H. and Edwin Sause of Shelburne Falls, Mass. Each speaker is assigned an evaluator who will point out the speaker's strong qualities as well as something to work on during a two to three-minute evaluation. Although the meeting theme has to do with Leap Year Day, speakers have the freedom to choose the subject of their choice.

Everyone will attempt to use the word of the day, previously announced by the grammarian, whenever they have a speaking opportunity.

After a short refreshment break, a speaking-off-the cuff exercise will give people a chance to answer a surprise question in one to two minutes. This exercise is available to the public as well as members.,

Close to the end of the meeting will be reports from the grammarian, the timer and the "ah" counter (who keeps track of um, er, andum, you know, and other filler words.)
