Wheel Pad honored with Innovation by Design Awards

WILMINGTON — Wheel Pad L3C was honored in Fast Company's Innovation by Design Awards for 2019 as a finalist in the Health category and was given Honorable Mention in the Best Design North America category. Wheel Pad is a universally accessible 200-square-foot modular bedroom/bathroom suite designed to connect to an existing home. It provides the opportunity for elders or someone newly experiencing mobility challenges to remain at home, and/or to return home following an accident.

"We are thrilled by this honor, and so humbled to be recognized alongside such businesses as Google, Samsung, and Tommy Hilfinger Adaptive - all who have sleek and innovative designs changing the way we interface with technology and everyday life," said Julie Lineberger, president and founder of Wheel Pad L3C, in a statement.

Innovation by Design is the only competition to honor creative work at the intersection of design, business, and innovation. All the honorees share one thing: a commitment to solving problems, no matter how big or small, as simply and as beautifully as possible.

The awards, which can be found in the October 2019 issue of Fast Company, recognize people, teams and companies solving the problems of today and tomorrow through design. Fast Company is recognizing an influential and diverse group of 483 leaders in fashion, architecture, graphic design, data visualization, social good, user experience, mobility, and more.
