WHPA hosts retirement celebration

CAMBRIDGEPORT — On Sept. 10, the Windmill Hill Pinnacle Association celebrated the retirement of its co-founder and long-time board member, Beverly Major.

The WHPA was started in 1992 by Robert Haas, Alison Latham, Sean Long, Beverly Major, Michael McKernan, Arthur Westing, Carol Westing, and Ellen Zimmerman to honor the memory of Jamie Charles Latham, of Westminster West, who died in a tragic accident in 1991. The ribbon cutting of the Jamie Latham Trail was held in 1997 and over the years the association, through fundraising and the donations, was able to acquire land containing and surrounding the Pinnacle, the highest peak, at just over 1,600 feet, in Westminster.
