BRATTLEBORO — Coming off of a perfect regular season and a finals appearance, there is only one way for the Twin Valley varsity boys soccer team to improve this year.

By winning the program's fourth state championship.

Guided by the winningest soccer coach in the state in Buddy Hayford, they went 14-0 to earn the top seed in the Division 3 Tournament last season. They then beat Green Mountain 4-0 and Peoples 3-0 in the playoffs, before falling to Stowe 1-0 in the title tilt.

The Wildcats are 3-3 in state championship games, including victories over Sharon (2014), Proctor (2013) and Leland & Gray (2005). They have earned the No. 1 seed five times in the last six years.

Twin Valley will open up at Rivendell Academy on Aug. 30 at 4:30 p.m. The team's complete schedule is shown below.
